The AKG C414 XLS is a premium large-diaphragm condenser microphone for high-quality recording. With its neutral, natural and high-resolution sound, it is suitable for recording acoustic instruments and voice. Acoustic guitars, string instruments and grand pianos in particular benefit from its excellent transmission characteristics. It is almost completely free of ambient noise and offers great recording dynamics. Quiet passages are recorded transparently and with nuance.
But even loud percussion recordings sound clean thanks to the high limiting sound pressure level. This makes it particularly suitable for use as an overhead or room microphone. For sound sources with very high levels, the sensitivity can be lowered in three steps. Should overloads nevertheless occur, they are reliably indicated via the LED. Even the shortest signal peaks are detected and facilitate level control.
The gold-coated double diaphragm offers very good impulse response and 5 directional characteristics: omnidirectional, cardioid, wide cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-of-eight. As a special feature, four intermediate levels can also be selected. The current setting is displayed via an LED. The proximity effect can be compensated via three switchable high-pass filters. Low-frequency noise can also be easily removed in this way. To prevent accidental operating errors, all controls on the microphone can be locked. The saved settings are retained even after the phantom power is switched off.
Thanks to its great tonal flexibility, the microphone adapts perfectly to all recording situations: from an open, spatial sound image to a focus on solo instruments that need to be separated from the surroundings.
The microphone is supplied in a metal case with elastic mount, pop shield, windscreen and dust bag.
